
Classic Bolognese
Easy and delicious homemade bolognese.
Ingredients:
4 portions
- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 400g canned crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- 250g spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat a splash of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the pan. Break it up with a spoon and cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the sauce simmers, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in a separate pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain well.
- Serve the bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
